Carbon Literacy: Create your own Carbon Literacy course
You've done your Carbon Literacy course and got your certificate.
You're all fired up and want to develop a course that you can offer to your community, sector or workplace.
But then life gets in the way. And before you know it, months have passed.
And when you do start to take a look at Carbon Literacy Project website it all starts to look quite overwhelming quite quickly.
I know the feeling!
One of my pledges from my own Carbon Literacy training was to create a course for my Sustainable(ish) audience, but it took me over a year to actually get something written and off the ground. This is the course I wish had been available when I was trying to write my Carbon Literacy course. Something that would walk me through the jargon and the process and help me to actually stop procrastinating and put pen to paper (or fingers to keyboard).
Carbon Literacy training is such a powerful tool, and it works best when it's delivered peer to peer, and is as relevant to it's audience as possible. That's why we need more Carbon Literacy courses.
That's why we need YOUR Carbon Literacy course!
How does it work?
The course is delivered online via Zoom over four 1.5 hour modules.
I'm aware that this might feel like a big time commitment, but I hope that it will be time well spent, and will make it so much quicker and easier to write your course, and will save you hours of procrastination!
There is a maximum of 10 participants on each course, to ensure that there's enough time to answer questions and make sure everyone gets what they need.
Course dates
NEW DATES TBC
- If you'd love to be the first to hear when new dates are in the diary, click on the button below and
leave your details to join the waiting list.
Cost - £249
NB. There are further costs involved to get your Carbon Literacy course accredited (payable to the Carbon Literacy Project - you can see these here)
There are only 10 spaces available on each course to ensure everyone gains the information and support they need.
If you are designing a course for a community project and have an organisational revenue of less than £25k or low/no funding, there are a limited number of free places available per course - please e-mail me on jen@sustainableish.co.uk to see if your project meets the criteria for a free place.
Who is it for?
- Anyone who is Carbon Literate (has done a Carbon Literacy course and gained their Carbon Literacy certificate)
- AND who wants to create a Carbon Literacy course for their community, sector/industry, or workplace
** REMEMBER: You DON'T need to be an expert or climate scientist to develop and deliver your own Carbon Literacy course! **
By the end of the course you will...
- Be clear on the ‘who’, ‘why’, ‘what’, ‘where’, ‘when’ and ‘how’ of designing your Carbon Literacy course
- Know what resources are available and how to access them
- Understand the process and costs involved with getting a course certified by the Carbon Literacy Project
- Understand the Carbon Literacy Standard and Course Criteria and how to incorporate the necessary elements
- Understand the core content needed, and have ideas for customisable content for your audience
- Understand the admin processes necessary for certifiying learners
- Have thought about the logistics of delivering your course and explored tools and resources that can be used to maximise engagement and interactivity
- Feel confident in your ability to design a kick-ass course and be excited and enthused about actually getting it done!
- Have connected with others on the same journey
By the end of the course you won't...
- Have your course written (unless you spend some time in between the sessions working on it!)
- Have an accredited course - all courses will still need to be submitted to the Carbon Literacy Project for certification and will go through the usual process of feedback and re-submission
- Have a drag and drop template - you get access to a pdf of the slides from my courses if you want to use them as a framework but you will need to create your own slides and resources
- Be able to use the course to count towards Carbon Literacy Trainer accreditation (ie it's NOT a Train the Trainer course)
Creating a Carbon Literacy course is a daunting task which is easy to put off!
Having meetings in my diary was the kick-start I needed to get going and was the crucial factor to me completing the course and getting it accredited.
The advice I got from Jen definitely made the accreditation process quicker and easier."
CLAIRE GILBERT
I would thoroughly recommend this course if you’ve done a Carbon Literacy course and want to take it that next level and create a bespoke course for your industry or community group.
Jen is super helpful and group discussions help stimulate great ideas to get engagement and real traction on of those attending your own Carbon Literacy course
