About Sustainable(ish)

You want to do your bit for the planet and for your kids, but you don't want to have to end up turning into Swampy (dreadlocked 1990's environmental activist, fond of chaining himself to diggers and/or trees for those not of a 'certain age'..!)

You want to reduce the overwhelming amount of plastic you're ramming into your bin every week, but you're fighting a losing battle with your other half, and haven't got the time or the headspace to plan your weekly shop around the farmers market 20 miles up the road.

You already feel guilty about pretty much everything 99% of the time, adding in guilt at contributing to the end of the world as we know it by buying apples out of season feels like just another stick to beat yourself up with.

You're short on time, energy, and sometimes sanity, but eco-anxiety is creeping in and is another thing to add to the list of 'things that keep you up at night and make you feel like a malfunctioning zombie in the morning' .

Sustainable(ish) is your antidote to all of that. It's your BFF who will share easy ideas for do-able changes you can make. Who knows how hard it just getting through the day with sanity intact and kids fed and clothed, without adding in another ball to juggle, labelled 'save the planet'. Who won't ever point the finger at your #imperfectlygreen attempts, and who cheers you on with every baby step you take.

It began life as a simple blog when I (Jen) spent a year buying nothing new with my family and was forced to really think, possibly for the first time, about what we were buying and the impact it was having on both people and planet. Sound the cliche klaxon, but it totally changed my life, changing not only how and where we shop, but how I see my place in the world as well. I realised that even though I was 'only one person', and we were 'only one family' that by taking responsibility for the impact of our choices, we really could make a difference.

Fast forward 10 years and we have an active and engaged online community of over 70k spread across various social media platforms, a popular podcast, and two books - The Sustainable(ish) Living Guide, and The Sustainable(ish) Guide to Green Parenting - and thousands of people have been inspired and empowered to gently shake the world with their imperfect eco-actions.
