Corporate Talks and Workshops
"Sustainability is not a department, it's everyone's job" - I love this quote from an article that appeared in The Irish Times.
Increasingly businesses are coming to realise that there's more to good business than profits. Progressive, forwards looking organisations are no longer solely concerened with the financial bottom line, they're looking at the 'triple bottom line' of People, Planet and Profit. And it's not just businesses, it's employees and customers too.
Give your staff team a break from the usual corporate training events and workshops and get inspired to make some simple changes. Changes that will a positive impact on people, on the planet and on your financial bottom line.
'Sustainability talks' have the potential to be dry and dull, and I can understand why people might not want to tune into an hour that leaves them feeling anxious and guilty for all the things they're doing to 'wreck the planet'.
Sustainable(ish) talks are different! Interactive elements help harness engagement, and participants leave fired up with ideas for things that they can change in their home lives, as well suggestions for projects and initiatives to get others on board at work.
The focus is on starting where you are, and doing what you can. It's a judgement-free zone where imperfect action is encouraged, and the big green bashy stick is left firmly at the door.
Meet Jen
When asked for my bio, I describe myself as 'an ordinary knackered mum of two'. I'm not a climate or environmental scientist and don't consider myself to be a 'sustainability expert' but I am an effective and empathetic communicator and since spending a year buying nothing new in 2012, have been able to grow a 60,000 strong audience on social media, relating my imperfect approach to eco-action.
'Sustainable(ish)' acknowledges that whilst many of us are worried about the climate crisis and the impact for future generations, we're also exhausted and pretty overwhelmed with the day to day business of life. With this in mind my talks aim to engage and inspire using humour and a light touch to help people leave fired up with ideas for their own imperfect action.
I'm an experienced speaker and communicator, host of the Sustainable(ish) podcast, and author of The Sustainable(ish) Living Guide and The Sustainable(ish) Guide to Green Parenting, as well as an accredited Carbon Literacy Trainer.

Recycling is often the first thing we think about when we want to 'do our bit' to help the planet, and lots of us want more information on how to be a better recycler.
This session answers some of the most common recycling questions, but also encourages us to think 'beyond recycling', including ideas and inspiration for easy actions that mean we actually recycle less!
With many teams now either working from home, or hybrid working, reducing emissions associated with home working is a win-win - reducing a company's scope 3 emissions, and saving employees money on their energy bills.
In this session we explore energy saving tips and ideas, as well as looking at our finances and the planetary impact they could be having.
How we travel and get around can have a big impact on the planet. In this session we look at the impact of our travel choices, for everyday commuting as well as for holidays. The emphasis is on making better choices more of the time, and exploring how we can still have the experiences we want, without the negative consequences for the planet.
The fashion industry is often quoted as being the second most polluting industry on the planet, behind the fossil fuel sector. However it's not really an area we tend to think about when we're looking at how to live a bit more sustainably.
In this session we explore the impacts of fashion on both people and planet, and look at some simple ways we can reduce our own fashion footprints, and influence those around us.
In 2012, as a family we spent a year buying nothing new. Up until that point, I had never really given much thought to what we were buying, other than where I might be able to get something more cheaply. But everything we buy has an impact, and our levels of consumption are a major driver of climate change.
In this session we explore why we buy, and some simple changes we can make to help us make better choices, more of the time, and to ultimately buy less (and save money!)
Having kids is often a pivotal moment for many people - it's when they realise the fragility of the future and want to do something to create a more secure future for their kids, but at the same time they have no time, money or headspace and there's an avalanche of plastic crap coming into the house. This session helps parents navigate their way through bringing up kids with less plastic, less impact, and hopefully less stress!
Christmas can be the most wonderful time of year, but it can also be one of the most wasteful and stressful times of year too!
But it can feel a teensy bit Grinch-esque to think about 'less' at this time of year.
In this session we look at ways we can get the maximum fun and enjoyment our of our festive celebrations while still being mindful of our impact on the planet.
