The Vintage Bazaar – Sustainable(ish)

The Vintage Bazaar

This weekend, after the excitement of the Upcycle! workshop, the big boys in the house, went off to do some big boy stuff, and SmallSmall and I ventured off to Devizes for The Vintage Bazaar. Excitement was high (for me, not for SmallSmall..)

The Vintage Bazaar has been running in Frome at the Cheese and Grain for a year or two now, and just seems to get busier and busier. The talented team behind it have now started to branch out, and have held events in Hartley Witney, North Cadbury, and now Devizes, as well as keeping the original Frome one’s going.

It really is a mecca for all Vintage Lovers, and another fine example of why buying nothing new is, for the most part, a joy!

Needless to say, I was in seventh heaven (SmallSmall was not quite so enamoured..) There were clothes, textiles, haberdashery, homewares, books, toys, kitchenalia, ingenious upcycled goodies….pretty much anything you could want. And not a new thing in sight! Fantastic 🙂

Here are some of the gorgeous things on the many lovely stalls:

Buttons! Who doesn't love vintage buttons..?!

Fabric....

Vintage fabric-took some resisting, but I think hubby would actually disown me if I bought anymore fabric at the moment..

Such pretty needles-maybe I should learn to knit...

Some fantastic Upcycling!

I came away empty handed, but then the only thing I am on the look-out for at the moment is some boots (still…), and I seem to have lost the habit of buying for the sake of it. So much gorgeous stuff, but I fear (or maybe actually, I am glad) I have turned into one of those eminently practical people who says “yes, but where would you put it…?”
